Clear dialogue, simple setup
Sonos tuned Ray with Hollywood sound engineers, so voices cut through clearly even at lower volumes. Turn on Speech Enhancement in the Sonos app when dialogue gets lost, and Night Sound for late-night viewing without disturbing the house.
All four drivers face forward, so Ray sounds the same on a shelf, inside a TV cabinet or wall-mounted. Setup takes minutes: connect the optical cable, plug in, follow the Sonos app, and Trueplay™ tunes it to your room.¹

Ray sounds great on its own, and you can build on it later, in any order. Every Sonos speaker connects to Ray wirelessly: each one just needs a power socket, with no speaker cables to run around the room.
When the TV's off, Ray is a music speaker too, streaming from your favourite services through the Sonos app or Apple AirPlay 2. Choose from three upgrades below.

Option 1
Add deep, impactful bass
A Sonos Sub adds the low-end rumble a compact soundbar can't, so films, games and music have real weight.
Sub Mini is the natural partner for Ray in most rooms. Choose Sub 4 for a larger room or the biggest bass. You can also buy Ray and Sub Mini together as a Ray + Sub Mini set.
Option 2
Add surround sound
Add a matching pair of Era 100 or Era 100 SL speakers behind your seating for true surround sound, with effects moving around the room.
Both sound identical. Era 100 SL is the more affordable choice, with no microphones. Era 100 adds built-in microphones for voice control.
Era 300 and portable surrounds (Play or Move 2) need Beam (Gen 2) or above, as they aren't supported by Ray.
Option 3
Listen on headphones
Watching late at night or don't want to disturb anyone? TV Audio Swap sends the sound from Ray to your Sonos headphones with one press.²
Choose Ace for premium noise cancelling, or Ace Ultra for Sonos' best.
Wall mounting and professional installation
The made-to-match Sonos Ray Wall Mount holds Ray neatly beneath a wall-mounted TV, and Ray's front-firing drivers mean it sounds just as good on the wall.
Our installation team can wall-mount your TV and Ray, hide the cables, and set up your Sonos system, including a Sub and surrounds. We cover Fleet, Farnborough, Aldershot, Farnham, Camberley and the surrounding area. Installation is a chargeable service, and we'll quote for exactly what you need.

Sonos Ray review: our take
The Sonos Ray is the entry point to the Sonos soundbar range, and it punches well above its price. It transforms the flat, dialogue-light sound of a modern flatscreen TV into something genuinely enjoyable, without taking over the room.
Dialogue clarity is where Ray earns its reputation: voices cut through even at low volumes, and Speech Enhancement takes it further. Its four front-firing drivers make placement easy, whether it sits on a shelf, inside a cabinet or on the wall.
We often run Ray alongside Beam (Gen 2) in the showroom. In smaller to medium rooms Ray is more than capable; it's with larger screens, open-plan rooms or a wish for Dolby Atmos that stepping up to Beam pays off.

Is the Sonos Ray worth buying?
Yes, if you want a big improvement on TV speakers in a smaller room. Ray gives clearer dialogue and fuller sound, is very easy to set up, and doubles as a Wi-Fi music speaker. For a larger living room or Dolby Atmos, look at Beam (Gen 2) or Beam Ultra.
Sonos Ray or Beam Gen 2: which should I buy?
Ray (SRP £199) is a stereo soundbar that connects to your TV by optical cable. Beam (Gen 2) (SRP £449) connects by HDMI eARC, plays Dolby Atmos, has voice control and gives a bigger, fuller sound. Ray suits smaller TVs and bedrooms; Beam is the better choice for most living rooms.
Sonos Ray or Beam Ultra: what's the difference?
Beam Ultra (SRP £699) adds HDMI eARC, true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos with up-firing drivers, 9 drivers instead of 4, and AI Speech Enhancement. Ray is far more affordable and compact, and ideal where Dolby Atmos isn't a priority.
Does Sonos Ray support Dolby Atmos?
No. Ray is a stereo soundbar that decodes Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround, but it doesn't play Dolby Atmos. For Dolby Atmos, choose Beam (Gen 2), Beam Ultra or Arc Ultra.
Will Sonos Ray work with my TV?
Ray connects to your TV's optical (digital audio) output, which almost every modern TV has, and the optical cable is included. It doesn't use HDMI. Ray learns your TV remote through its infrared receiver, so you can control the volume as normal.
Can I add a Sub and surround speakers to Sonos Ray?
Yes. Add a Sub Mini or Sub 4 for deeper bass, and a matching pair of Era 100 or Era 100 SL speakers as wireless rear surrounds. Era 300 and portable Play or Move 2 surrounds aren't supported with Ray; they need Beam (Gen 2) or above.
Can I wall-mount Sonos Ray?
Yes. The Sonos Ray Wall Mount is made to match, and Ray's front-firing drivers mean it sounds the same on the wall. Our installation team can mount your TV and Ray and hide the cables as a chargeable service.
Which Sonos soundbar is right for me?
It depends on your TV size, room and budget. Ray suits smaller rooms, Beam (Gen 2) is the best all-rounder for most living rooms, Beam Ultra adds true Dolby Atmos in a compact size, and Arc Ultra is the flagship for TVs 55" and larger. Our soundbar guide compares all four.
