What is Micro RGB – and how does it compare?
Most LED TVs light the picture with blue or white LEDs, then filter that light into colour. Micro RGB builds the colour into the backlight itself: microscopic red, green and blue LEDs, dimmed in fine zones, so there's less colour bleed and far more saturated, accurate colour – while keeping the high brightness LED TVs are known for.
It sits between our two other technologies: brighter than OLED with a wider colour range, and a big step up in colour and contrast from QLED.

Micro RGB TV FAQs
What is a Micro RGB TV?
A Micro RGB TV uses a backlight made of thousands of microscopic red, green and blue LEDs, rather than blue or white LEDs. This gives a much wider, more accurate colour range with high brightness. Samsung's 2026 R85H is available in 55" and 65".
Is Micro RGB better than OLED?
It's different rather than simply better. Micro RGB is brighter and covers a wider colour range, so it shines in bright rooms. OLED still has perfect blacks and the widest viewing angles, so it suits film watching in dimmer rooms.
Is Micro RGB the same as MicroLED?
No. In a Micro RGB TV the tiny RGB LEDs form the backlight behind the screen. MicroLED is a separate, far more expensive technology where each pixel is its own LED.
Is the Samsung R85H good for gaming?
Yes. It supports 144Hz with VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, plus Samsung's Game Bar and Gaming Hub for cloud gaming without a console.
