Sonos 8" In-Ceiling Speakers by Sonance
The most powerful speakers in the Sonos Architectural range. A custom 8" woofer reaches down to 32 Hz, so you get rich, room-filling sound from the ceiling – often without needing a separate subwoofer.
Pair them with a Sonos Amp and they join your Sonos system: stream from Spotify, Apple Music and more, control everything from the Sonos app, and tune them to your room with Trueplay.

Power them with a Sonos Amp
The Sonos Amp drives up to three pairs of 8" In-Ceiling speakers with 125 W per channel. It recognises Sonos Architectural speakers and applies dedicated tuning, overdrive protection and Trueplay room correction.
Connect it to your TV over HDMI ARC for home cinema sound, or group the room with the rest of your Sonos system.
Add acoustic fire hoods
Cutting a hole for a speaker weakens a ceiling's fire resistance. A Hoody 2 acoustic fire hood sits over the back of each speaker to restore it, with a fire rating of up to 90 minutes, and also cuts sound leaking into the room above.
Hoody 2 is designed for 8" to 10" ceiling speakers, so it's the right match for the Sonos 8" In-Ceiling. You need one per speaker, so two per pair.

Designed to disappear
- Big sound, hidden. The 8" woofer and wide 100° dispersion fill larger rooms evenly.
- Flush, paintable grilles. Slim magnetic grilles sit almost flat to the ceiling and match the 6" model, so you can mix both sizes.
- Trueplay with Sonos Amp. Tunes the speakers to your room (iOS device needed for tuning).
- Home cinema ready. Use as main speakers or rear surrounds with a Sonos soundbar.

Frequently asked questions
Do the Sonos 8" In-Ceiling speakers need an amplifier?
Yes. They are passive speakers, so they need an amplifier. The Sonos Amp is the ideal partner: it adds them to your Sonos system, applies EQ tuned for these speakers and unlocks Trueplay room tuning.
Should I choose the 6" or 8" model?
The 8" goes deeper (down to 32 Hz) and spreads sound wider (100°), so it suits larger rooms, open-plan spaces and home cinema without a separate subwoofer. The 6" is easier to fit and suits most standard rooms. Both share the same grille style, so you can mix them in one space.
How many pairs can one Sonos Amp power?
Up to three pairs of Sonos Architectural speakers. All speakers on one Amp play the same audio, so use one Amp per room or zone if you want different music in different places.
What size hole do I need to cut?
A 257 mm cut-out, with at least 135 mm of depth above the ceiling (180 mm with a Hoody 2 fire hood). Ceilings up to 38.5 mm thick are supported.
Do I need fire hoods?
We recommend an acoustic fire hood for every in-ceiling speaker. The Hoody 2 is the right size for the Sonos 8" In-Ceiling: one per speaker, two per pair. It restores the ceiling's fire resistance and reduces sound leaking into the room above.
Can I use them for home cinema?
Yes. A Sonos Amp connects to your TV over HDMI ARC/eARC, and Amp-powered ceiling speakers can also act as rear surrounds for a Sonos soundbar such as Arc Ultra.
Can you install them for me?
Yes. Our installation team works across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire from our Fleet showroom. We plan positions, cut in the speakers, fit fire hoods, run cables and set everything up. Call 01252 811800 for a quote.
