Sonos 6" In-Ceiling Speakers by Sonance
The Sonos in-ceiling speaker gives you room-filling Sonos sound that disappears into the ceiling. Co-designed with Sonance, these passive in-ceiling speakers sit flush with the plaster, with slim magnetic grilles you can paint to match.
Pair them with a Sonos Amp and they join your Sonos system like any other Sonos speaker: stream from Spotify, Apple Music and more, control them from the Sonos app, and tune them to your room with Trueplay.

Add acoustic fire hoods
Cutting a hole for a speaker weakens a ceiling's fire resistance. A Hoody 1 acoustic fire hood sits over the back of each speaker to restore it, with a fire rating of up to 90 minutes, and also cuts sound leaking into the room above.
Hoody 1 is designed for 5" to 7" ceiling speakers, so it's the right match for the Sonos 6" In-Ceiling. You need one per speaker, so two per pair.

Designed to disappear
- Flush, minimal grilles. Thin magnetic grilles sit almost flat to the ceiling and can be painted to match.
- Tuned by Sonos and Sonance. Custom drivers and a wide 90° dispersion give even coverage across the room.
- Trueplay with Sonos Amp. Tunes the speakers to your room's size and furnishings (iOS device needed for tuning).
- Easy to fit. Dog-leg clamps tighten into plasterboard, and the shallow 120 mm depth suits most ceilings.

Frequently asked questions
Do the Sonos 6" In-Ceiling speakers need an amplifier?
Yes. They are passive speakers, so they need an amplifier to play. The Sonos Amp is the natural partner: it streams music over Wi-Fi, adds the speakers to your Sonos system and unlocks Trueplay tuning and speaker-specific EQ for Sonos Architectural speakers.
How many pairs can one Sonos Amp power?
One Sonos Amp can power up to three pairs of Sonos Architectural speakers. All the speakers on one Amp play the same audio, so if you want different music in different rooms, use one Amp per room or zone.
How does the Amp bundle saving work?
Use the "1 pair + Sonos Amp" or "2 pairs + Sonos Amp" button on this page. Both products go into your basket together and the saving (£129 or £139) is taken off automatically. One saving applies per Amp, so two Amps with matching speakers get two savings.
Can I use ceiling speakers with my TV?
Yes. The Sonos Amp has an HDMI ARC/eARC input, so a TV can play through the ceiling speakers. They can also act as rear surrounds for a Sonos soundbar such as Arc Ultra or Beam when powered by a Sonos Amp.
Do I need fire hoods?
We recommend acoustic fire hoods for every in-ceiling installation. They help slow the spread of fire between floors, cut sound leaking into rooms above, and are required by building regulations in many situations. Fire hoods are not included: the Hoody 1 is the right size for this speaker, and you need one per speaker (two per pair).
Should I choose the 6" or 8" model?
The 6" suits most living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms and is easier to fit between joists. The 8" goes deeper (down to 32 Hz) and spreads sound wider, so it is the better choice for larger rooms or home cinema without a separate subwoofer.
