Don't Forget an Acoustic Fire Hood!
It is recommended that an Acoustic Fire hood is fitted to all ceiling speaker locations, but it is a requirement that hoods are fitted to all in-ceiling speakers that are installed where a ceiling is rated for 30 mins or more to ensure compliance. If you are unsure, be safe… always fit a hood. Due to its acoustic construction the HOODY1 will also stop a large amount of backwards sound leakage from the speakers to the rooms above its location, making in-ceiling speaker installation below a child’s bedroom, for example, achievable.

The Sonos 8" In-Ceiling speaker provides deeper bass and a more powerful performance. Delivering up to 225 watts of power and bass down to as low as 29Hz this is a great solution for larger or open plan rooms.
The Sonos 6" In-Ceiling Speakers by Sonance bring the full Sonos multi-room experience to any room in your home — completely out of sight. Co-designed and tuned by Sonos and Sonance, these passive speakers sit flush with your ceiling and deliver clear, balanced sound that belies their discreet installation.
A 6.5" woofer delivers bass down to 36Hz, while the 1" tweeter and 90-degree dispersion pattern ensures even, natural coverage across small to medium-sized rooms. Whether it's background music in a kitchen, whole-house audio across multiple zones, or a dedicated listening room, the 6" speakers handle it all with ease.
Like the 8" model, these are passive speakers that require an amplifier — the Sonos Amp is the natural pairing, unlocking Trueplay tuning, overdrive protection and custom DSP tuned specifically for Sonos Architectural speakers. One Sonos Amp can power up to three pairs. The flush, bezel-less magnetic grille is paintable to match any ceiling, and the 6" and 8" models share the same grille aesthetic so both sizes can be mixed seamlessly in the same installation.
Please note: These are passive speakers and require a Sonos Amp or compatible amplifier. They do not have built-in Sonos connectivity.

Acoustic Fire Hoods (not included)
An essential component for speaker installations. Designed to cover the rear of in-ceiling and in-wall speakers, a fire and acoustic hood is a legal requirement for many new buildings. But whether legally required or not, we'd recommend them as a safety precaution. Using a fire and acoustic hood helps resist the spread of fire through the floors of a building and to reduce the transmission of noise to adjacent rooms and properties. It's a requirement for all speakers that are installed below any habitable rooms and escape routes.
