The Sonos Move 2 is the portable speaker for people who don't want to compromise. Where the Roam 2 and Play are designed to be light and pocketable, the Move 2 is built around a different set of priorities — bigger sound, longer battery, and a toughness that means it can genuinely live outdoors. If you want a portable speaker that sounds like a proper hi-fi, this is the one.
The acoustic architecture is a meaningful step up from its predecessor. Two angled tweeters replace the single tweeter of the original Move, delivering genuine stereo separation rather than just stereo processing. Combined with a precision-tuned woofer in a sealed enclosure, the result is a full, room-filling sound with real bass weight — the kind of performance that makes it just as good on a kitchen worktop as it is in the garden.
Battery life is rated at up to 24 hours — double the original Move — and the wireless charging base has been redesigned with a more compact adapter that's easier to position wherever you want it. IP56 means it's protected against dust and high-pressure water, so summer rain or a hosepipe moment won't trouble it. The built-in handle makes carrying it straightforward, and shock-absorbent materials protect against the inevitable knocks.
At home it integrates fully into the Sonos ecosystem via Wi-Fi, appearing as a room in the Sonos app alongside your other speakers. Automatic Trueplay continuously adjusts the sound for wherever it's placed. Away from home it switches to Bluetooth with a single button press, and a line-in connection via the Sonos Line-In Adapter opens it up to turntables and other sources too.
