QLED vs Neo QLED vs OLED ↓

What is a QLED TV – and how is Neo QLED different?

QLED is Samsung's name for LED TVs with a quantum dot colour layer. The quantum dots turn the backlight into purer reds and greens, giving brighter, more vibrant colour than a standard LED TV. Neo QLED goes further, using thousands of tiny Mini LEDs that dim and brighten in zones, so dark scenes look deeper and highlights pop.

QLED TV FAQs

What is a QLED TV?

A QLED TV is an LED-backlit TV with a quantum dot layer that produces brighter, purer colours than a standard LED TV. QLED is Samsung's name for the technology.

What's the difference between QLED and Neo QLED?

Neo QLED replaces the standard backlight with Quantum Mini LEDs – thousands of much smaller LEDs controlled in zones. That gives deeper blacks, brighter highlights and less glow around bright objects.

Is QLED better than OLED?

It depends on your room. QLED is brighter, has no burn-in risk, comes in smaller sizes and usually costs less. OLED has perfect blacks and wider viewing angles. For a bright room or everyday TV, QLED is often the better choice; for films in a darker room, OLED usually wins.

Do QLED TVs suffer from burn-in?

No. QLED and Neo QLED TVs use an LED backlight rather than self-lit pixels, so they aren't prone to burn-in from static images such as channel logos or game menus.
